SELF AWARENESS

Humans are more than just conscious, they are also Self Aware.  Scientists differ on how they distinguish between consciousness and self-awareness, but there is one common distinction:  consciousness is awareness of your body and your environment and self-awareness is recognition of that consciousness - not only understanding that you exist but further comprehending that you are aware of your existence.

Another way of considering it:
 "to be conscious to think",
to be self-aware is to realize that you are a thinking being and to think about your thoughts.

Self-awareness is our ability to effectively read how we react to cues in the environment.  It is when we are ware of how our emotions affect our performance in any given situation.  Lifetime after lifetime, we have accumulated many deep traumas that were stored in the lower chakras.  The most affected one is the "Emotional Body - Sacral Chakra".

But, let's describe "emotions" first.  Emotions are "expressions of misunderstanding".  Because we don't understand something, we feel attacked, insecure, lacking of confidence.  We take things personally.  We are hurt, we think we are treated unfairly, etc...... and because we don't understand our emotions on the moment, we refuse to deal with the situation that caused a negative outcome.  This is caused by a narrow perception, or the conditioning of certain principles we are taught by the Society, our environment telling us what is the standard.  This is the source of anger, nastiness even..... and many re-action.This leads us to repress them instead of coming to terms with them.  We recognise an emotion when it comes with thought of anger, drama and noise in the mind........  As feelings are more like a whisper, a gentle touch, an intuition, the "knowing" inside.
The release of the emotions is important because when we don't understand them, when store them in a drawer, they become unconscious traumas that stick to us, causing distortion that can even create a dis-ease, a major malady and physical, mental and spiritual disorders.

So, what do we do with these emotions?
The most important thing we can do with an emotion is allow it in, to feel all aspects of it while not losing our consciousness.  Being conscious of an emotion is already starting the healing of it.

First recognize them:  an emotion is an overwhelming feeling
   that we don't understand.....;
Being aware of how we feel in specific situations:
   understanding which emotion triggers certain re-action;
Realizing how this emotion impacts us and others:  Embrace it
Then the emotional insight happens:  we have Self-Awareness
   when we can capture those subtle signals and taking full
   responsibility
 An emotion shows something to correct or heal in us.  It appears to us so that we can learn not to judge or analyse it.  Staying neutral and be kind of an observer of a scene.  This neutrality helps us to see what this emotion is all about, what is lacking light within us, to be treated and harmonized.
Turning into our emotions in such a neutral and comprehensive manner is liberating.  It enhances our inner compassion towards us and hence towards others.
Here is an example about anger that can give you an idea of the repetitive behaviours and re-actions.

When you feel anger about something or someone:

-  Do you discipline yourself?
-  Do you suppress the emotion?
-  Do you think that disciplining yourself is a right or wrong thing?
-  Who taught you that?
-  Was it a parent, a teacher or a friend?

IT IS ALL ABOUT SELF-LOVE

One of the most powerful ways to remove negative energy from your life is to let go of negative thoughts about yourself.  Anything other than the perfection of your soul is an illusion.  We all have things we need to improve on, but our soul is higher truth.  Our soul is a perfect being we can call upon anytime and anywhere.  Simply being aware of this can connect you to the Flawless Universe.

We use love and compassion towards ourselves, all the way, in order to re-write them with a bigger, larger understanding.  We might feel the same emotions of the past moment, but then from the place of healing, the emotion itself heals and transmutes into a loving energy.  Loving energy that triggers self-love, self-esteem, worthiness and most of it "Unity with ourselves".
Feeling, as opposed to Emotion, is a sensation of Joy.  Joy transcends the emotional state of being.  Joy lifts us up without any particular reason and when that happens, we have a taste of the Divinity inside of us, the Unity to all things...........
To conclude:  becoming free and whole on the emotional level is
one of the most important aspect of growing spiritually.  When you are quiet, go within and let your inner voice guide in the places that need healing and the best tool is LOVE of course.
