THE BENEFITS OF CBD-CANNABIDIOL

In recent times cannabis has become a talking point making the news as medical researchers are discovering the vast therapeutic benefits cannabis has to offer.  There is however much misinformation and understanding on the subject.

There are at least 85 different cannabinoids found in all strains of cannabis.  The two largest are Tetrahydrocannabinol or "THC" and Cannabidiol or "CBD".

The core difference is that recreational Cannabis contains high levels of CBD.   Typically recreational Cannabis contains THC concentrations of approximately 8%, whereas Industrial Hemp contains higher levels of CBD and lower levels of THC.  Legally industrial hemp is required to have a THC content of below 0.3% to be classified as industrial Hemp by authorities. This is the defining difference and how authorities differentiate between recreational Cannabis and Industrial Hemp.  Industrial Hemp has no appeal to recreational users of Cannabis due to its low THC levels.  It would be impossible to consume enough Industrial Hemp in order to achieve a "high".  It is important to note that cannabinoids are active in all varieties of Cannabis and offer the same value, its however their concentration which varies.

Is Cannabidiol Legal?
Yes, CBD is legal worldwide (a controlled substance in Canada alone).  As we've seen above, there is a lot of misinformation surrounding CBD, partially because its chemical properties are poorly understood and partially because its close resemblance to THC.

Until relatively recently (1980's), scientists believed that CBD was a natural precursor to the formation of THC, and since THC was a strictly controlled substance back then (it is still now), it only allowed that CBD should be equally strictly regulated.

However, CBD is actually unrelated to the chemical chain that results in THC.  They share some characteristics but are created via different paths.  Again, unlike THC, CBD is considered a legal cannabinoid and is safe to consume in any amount and concentration.

How to use CBD oil?
CBD oil can be used by those wanting to enjoy the benefits of CBD, legally, without the high caused by THC.  It is also used by those using THC containing oils as a way of increasing the levels of CBD in oils which are typically low in CBD.

There is at present no accurate guideline of dosages.  Each person is unique and one would need to experiment to find what works. Typically it is suggested using a higher dose close to start and working your way down.  Effective dosing as low as 2mg at a time for pain and anxiety has been used.  Dosing starting at 10mg per day has been suggested for cancer.

Safety:
It is important to always work with the consultation of a professional health practitioner when dealing with matters of health.  CBD has an excellent safety profile.  CBD has been found to present no risk of lethal overdose.

  2. CBD has been in the news before, as a possible treatment for epilepsy. Research is still in its early days. Researchers are testing how much CBD is able to reduce the number of seizures in people with epilepsy, as well as how safe it is.  cbd vape oil

  3. I’ve been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before. smoke.io
