Loving ways to deal with Toxic Behaviour

Toxic behavior can zap your positive energy and leave you feeling heartbroken, stressed, angry, drained and even unwell. Knowing how to deal with toxic encounters is the key to peace of mind, good health and happiness. This involves using your heart and soul instead of your head and ego to resolve your emotional injuries.

We all live in glass houses

No one is perfect. We all make mistakes. Everyone gets hurt, and hurts others. Knowing that means we all should understand when someone says or does something that hurts us. Unfortunately the ego doesn’t agree. It’s so busy judging others it has no capacity for love. The ego insists on being right, not happy. When your ego is engaged, you play the blame game, and no one wins.

Suggestion: The key to happiness and emotional freedom is knowing how not to take things personally. Instead of trying to resolve the issue with your brain and its companion the ego, try seeing through the eyes of your soul. This higher perspective will help to re-frame the situation in a loving, compassionate light.

Take nothing personally

Just because a person does something you dislike doesn’t necessarily mean their actions are directed at you. The aggressive driver who tailgated you, and then cut you off after he passed you, may be late for a job he fears losing if he doesn’t get there on time. The short-tempered salesperson may be concerned about her sick child and wishing she could be home to take care of her instead of having to deal with customers all day.

Suggestion: Think of the times when you’ve been under stress, and acted in an unkind manner. How did people react to you? Were they kind and understanding, or did they push back? How did their reactions make you feel? Choose to act in a heart-based manner and pay positivity forward.

If people could do better, they would

The majority of people do not intend to cause harm. Chances are, if someone has injured you in any way, s/he was acting out of fear or pain. Instead of asking for help, their ego-fueled pain body lashed out at you. Just as a desperate animal is more likely to attack, a desperate person is more likely to hurt you. If their behavior was not appropriate, then rest assured it had nothing to do with you.

Suggestion: Instead of being angry with them, use your heart to see things from their perspective. What’s going on in their life?  Are they in pain, and if so do they need help?

We project our feelings onto others

Happy people tend to treat others with kindness and consideration because they feel good inside. Negative people, on the other hand, can always find a reason to complain. Toxic people may be coping with feelings of depression, anxiety and anger, and so they project their angst onto others. Whether positive or negative, a person’s nature is determined by his/her internal landscape.
Suggestion: Try to be mindful of your own thoughts and feelings. If you are upset by someone else’s behavior, chances are you are projecting your own insecurities or judgments. If that’s the case, ask yourself what you need in order to feel better.

We attract what we feel, not what we want

The way others treat you is a reflection of how you feel about yourself. For instance, people with low self-esteem can find themselves in relationships that compound their insecurities. Instead of finding someone with genuine strength, they may attract a bully who is domineering and controlling, the other end of the insecurity spectrum.

Suggestion: Examine your relationships objectively as possible. What patterns do you see? What do these say about you and how you feel about yourself? If you don’t like your relationships with others, what needs to change in the way you feel about yourself?

The least lovable people need the most love

Some people are so busy reacting to things they inadvertently block the very things they desire, and then become their own worst energy. Without knowing how to break the cycle, it’s easy to get caught in a cycle of negativity and reactivity. Inside, they are fighting a never-ending battle. It’s exhausting and damaging to their physical, mental and emotional health. What they need is love and TLC.

Suggestion: If you don’t like other people’s behavior, imagine what’s it’s like to be them. You can get away from their toxicity, but they can’t. Have compassion for them, and send them loving energy.

Forgiveness will set you free

If you’ve been injured or wronged by someone’s toxic behavior, you may find yourself reliving the hurt. In severe cases, this is known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and it requires medical care and professional counselling. But for less traumatic injuries, forgiveness is the most powerful healing tool available. Forgiveness doesn’t mean you condone how you were treated, or that you give the person permission to hurt you again. It’s simply a way of stopping the hurt so that you do not continue to repeat the abuse. It’s your ticket to emotional freedom.

Suggestion: Employ Ho’oponopono, an ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness. Think of the person who hurt you and say, “I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.” Keep repeating this mantra until you feel a shift in your heart.

Know when to walk away

As Kenny Rogers said, “You gotta know when to hold ‘em, and you gotta know when to fold ‘em”. Some people are just too toxic to be around. No matter what you do to help them, nothing seems to work. They either can’t get better because they need more help than you can give, or they don’t want to get better. They may be fighting a battle with themselves/ego, shadow boxing with ghosts of the past, or they may be so firmly entrenched in victim consciousness that they’ve lost their desire to reclaim their personal power. They may even have serious mental health issues. Whatever the reason, if they are constantly draining, abusing, manipulating or hurting you, it’s time to break the co-dependency so that you both can lead healthier lives.

Suggestions: If the person needs more than you can give them, encourage them to seek help. If it’s a spouse or child, tell your family doctor. If it’s a friend or co-worker, encourage them to see a licensed mental health care processional. If it’s a friendship or romantic partnership, you may have to walk away temporarily or even permanently in order to break the toxic bond. Sometimes ending a bad relationship is the most loving thing you can do.

People will project their insecurities on others. Often times, they will reflect that which they fear the most. For example, if someone says, "I hate you," then chances are, it isn't you but something they hate within themselves. At times, it can be difficult when words have so much power to hurt us, but try to understand why certain words were said and you'll gain a whole new perspective on how to handle such situations.

DNA Activation

DNA Activation is a spiritually focused process of awakening dormant potentials within the multidimensional human DNA codex.

WHAT IS THE DNA - and what does it stand for?

DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic Acid (pronounced dee-oxy-rye-bow-nu-clee-ik acid). It is the generic material of a cell. The chromosomes inside the nucleus (control centre) of the cell are mad...e of DNA. Lots and lots of DNA. It is very fine and tightly coiled, but there are may be as much as a metre in a single cell. DNA is really a code. It is divided up into sections. These sections are genes, which carry all the instructions for making up our body. So, there is a gene that tells the body to have brown hair and so on. Each gene is a code for a particular protein. Our bodies are made up of proteins. So the genes dictate how ware are made and what our bodies look like.

DNA molecules are shaped in a double helix. They are long strands coiled round each other. You inherit half your DNA from your mother and half from your father.

DNA is our chemical blueprint, but the Human Genome Project found that over ninety percent of it is not coded. In fact, only approximately four percent creates 23,000 genes in Human Body. The rest? It's a puzzle to the extreme and to this day there is no answer why most of DNA seems to have no symmetry codes of any kind. In fact it seems to be random.

Is it that DNA is mostly quantum instructions - information that speaks to the Human Body? There is a full revelation of the twelve layers, or energies of DNA. The twelve layers of study around our DNA, each has a Hebrew name, which is a "name of God". To make it even more esoteric, each one also has a numerological energy and a complex interaction with the others in the group of 12.

Meditation - Conscious Mind Primer

Imagine your unconscious mind is the hard disk of a bio-computer with its own operating system and software that runs your current life.

Your unconscious mind is irrational and deals with habitual behaviors. It cannot distinguish from negative or positive, it just replays programs (habits) loaded into it since your were born.

Your conscious mind deals with rational decision making, it also acts like a filter for all the noise and information that bombards you all day long from your environment.

Your conscious mind hates multitasking and it prefers doing one activity at a time. Under stress and when forced to multitask, as many of us do in this hectic modern times, its ability to protect your unconscious mind from negative information is disrupted.

Sleight of hand magicians and stage hypnotists take advantage of this fact when they distract their subjects and bypass the rational conscious mind planting suggestions into the unconscious.

Your conscious mind is a powerful tool to getting the life you want. When you learn to take control of your conscious mind you can write positive programs into your unconscious mind that form empowered habits.

The Conscious Mind Primer is a powerful 30 minute hypnotic journey designed to speak directly to your conscious mind and to prepare it for the transformation ahead.
This session is designed to prepare your conscious mind to allow your unconscious to be reprogrammed for the key success habits.

INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE

What is Integrative Medicine?
DEFINITIONS
"Integrative Medicine recognises the holistic and unique nature of human-beings, which encompasses physio-energetic information systems. It investigates the multi-factoral causes of dis-ease. In this approach the practitioner and the sick individual form a team working towards an integrated protocol of management best suited for that person.
The priority is to support health using the least invasive and most natural approach; this does not exclude symptomatic treatment of disease, where appropriate."

SASIM mission statement, April 2006
"Integrated or Integrative Medicine is practising medicine in a way that selectively incorporates elements of Complementary and Alternative medicine into comprehensive treatment plans alongside solidly orthodox methods of diagnosis and treatment. "
British Medical Journal 2001, 322:119-120

Integrative Medicine:
  • Is based on a partnership of patient and practitioner, within which conventional and alternative modalities may be used to stimulate the body's healing response;
  • Shifts the orientation of medicine from one of disease to one of healing;
  • Engages the mind, spirit, and community as well as the body;
  • Neither rejects conventional medicine nor uncritically accepts alternative practices;
  • Is committed to good science that is driven by inquiry and open to new paradigms;
  • Is grounded in the philosophy that prevention is a primary responsibility of medicine and that healing is possible even when curing is not;
  • Works to activate innate, natural healing mechanisms
  • Uses natural, less invasive interventions before costly, invasive ones whenever possible; and
  • Asks that practitioners seek to model health and healing and commit to the process of self-exploration.
New terminology of Integrative Medicine includes the following:
  • Art of medicine
  • Systems
  • Webs
  • Non-linear dynamics
  • Informational systems
  • Patterns
  • Probability dynamics
  • Relationships
  • Complexity
  • Meaning and medicine
  • Order and chaos
  • Intuition and experience
As the philosophy develops and become more sophisticated a newer medicine will emerge which will naturally integrate many aspects of traditional medicine, newer developments in physics and quantum theory and recent advances in nutritional medicine.

THE 3 PILLARS OF INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE
Integrative medicine is not Alternative Medicine or Complementary Medicine. It is really an expansion of the limited conventional medicine as practised today. Conventional medicine has become focused on 'the disease' to the exclusion of the person and the dysfunction within the system. This would be equivalent to fixing the part that is broken in a motor car without doing a tune-up or speaking to the driver.

First pillar: Lifestyle Management
Deficiencies in the following aspects of lifestyle comprise the underlying causes of ill-health:
  • Healthy food choices
  • Appropriate and sufficient exercise
  • Appropriate weight-to-height ratio [Body Mass Index]
  • Ability to process and remove toxins from the body
  • Stress management
  • Psycho-spiritual balance
Second pillar: Management of the Underlying Dysfunctions
The dysfunction is not quite the disease yet. Dysfunction precedes the disease just as the motor car getting out of tune precedes the breakdown.
The dysfunction takes on many forms such as insulin resistance, nutrient deficiencies, under- or over-functioning of glands, sympathetic or parasympathetic imbalance, stomach acid too high or too low, immune system imbalance, hormonal dysregulation, pH abnormalities, metabolic disturbances of many kinds, etc.
Integrative Medical doctors will detect and diagnose the dysfunctions and will correct these problems before they manifest as breakdown/disease. Natural products that work well with [rather than against] the body's own systems, are usually employed to correct the imbalances.

Third pillar: Treatment of Disease
This is often not necessary, as correcting the body's deficiencies and dysfunctions, allows the body's own innate healing processes to deal with the 'disease'. Herbal or homeopathic medicines may be needed at this point to complete the healing. Integrative Medical doctors are also able to use drugs and surgery, to relieve symptoms when appropriate. When these are required the body still needs the support of natural remedies to improve health.

MYTHS AND FACTS ABOUT HEPATITIS C

Is Hepatisis C rare?  False
Some 3.2 million Americans have hepatitis C, and about 17,000 more are infected each year. Hepatitis C is the most common infection in the U.S. that is spread through blood. Hepatitis B is also commonly spread through blood. Hepatitis A is usually spread through food or water. All three forms are caused by viruses.

The Liver is the body part most affected by Hepatitis C?  True
"Hepatitis" means inflammation of the liver. In addition to a virus, hepatitis can also result from overuse of drugs or alcohol, illnesses, medications, or even an immune disorder.

The liver's jobs are to clean your blood, help digest fats, and store energy. A liver that's swollen and damaged by hepatitis C slowly stops working as it should.

Hepatitis C can stay active in your body and slowly damage the liver over time. This is called chronic hepatitis C. You may develop cirrhosis, a condition in which most of the liver has been destroyed and has become scar tissue.

The first symptom of Hepatitis C is high Fever?  False
Hepatitis C usually doesn't cause any symptoms. If it isn't diagnosed, it can take as long as 30 years for serious signs of liver damage to develop.

Some people can have symptoms such as nausea or vomiting. But because these symptoms can be signs of so many other things, it's best to ask your doctor to test you. If you have hepatitis C, you can spread the virus even if you aren't having symptoms.

Teenagers are most likely to have Hepatitis C?  False
Baby boomers -- people born from 1945 to 1965 -- have the highest rates of hepatitis C. It may be that they became infected in the '70s and '80s when hepatitis C rates were high and blood wasn't screened as well as it is now.

The CDC says all boomers should be tested, along with anyone who ever used illegal drugs, had blood transfusions before 1992, or has HIV or liver disease symptoms. If you think you've been exposed to hepatitis C, talk to your doctor about getting tested.

You can get Hepatitis C by having Sex?  True
It isn't easy to get infected with hepatitis C through sex, but it's still possible. If you have multiple partners or if you or your partner has hepatitis C, it's a good idea to use a latex condom.

You're more likely to get hepatitis C by sharing needles or other equipment to inject drugs. Health care workers sometimes get it from needle injuries.

Getting Tattoos and Piercings can put you at risk for Hepatitis C?  True
Your chances of having problems at a licensed, commercial facility are slim. But tattoos or piercings done with nonsterile instruments can spread hepatitis C.

If you get a tattoo or piercing, look for a facility that works with all single-use items like gloves, needles, and ink pots. The shop should properly dispose of all items that have touched blood, use a disinfecting solution to clean work areas, and sterilize reusable tools.

A vaccine can prevent Hepatitis C?  False
There are vaccines for hepatitis A and B, but there isn't one for hepatitis C. To keep from getting infected, avoid contact with other people's blood. Don't share personal items like razors and toothbrushes, especially with someone who has hepatitis C.

Hepatitis C cannot be spread by hugging, kissing, coughing, sneezing, or breastfeeding. Unlike hepatitis A, you can’t get hepatitis C from food or water.

HOLISTIC HEALING

Holistic healing means taking a holistic approach when seeking treatment for imbalances and choosing to live a more balanced lifestyle. What primarily distinguishes holistic healing apart from alternative medicine, complementary medicine, and integrative medicine is that physical health is not necessarily the main focus. Even so, it is often the experience of physical discomfort that will first prompt a person's pursuit of holistic healing.

It is true that our pains and other physical discomforts demand our attention. This is where the saying "sticking out like a sore thumb'" originated from. It is difficult to ignore the obvious when we are physically hurting. Common sense tells us that we should seek help to alleviate our discomforts. Holistic healing is not an "alternative" to conventional medical care. Sometimes going to a medical professional is the best solution to addressing a dis-ease.

Physical illnesses are the symptoms of a greater imbalance that may or may not have a root cause in the physical.

Holistic or "wholistic" healing addresses all parts of the individual, not just the physical aspect of a person where manifested illnesses are most apparent. Holistic healing is not intended to serve as a band-aid or a one time fix. It is an ongoing journey of discovery in search of more answers and ultimately; living better, being healthier, and striving for wholeness.

Holistic Healing Goes Beyond the Mind-Body Connection:

Holistic healing is really a lifestyle approach. The holistic approach goes far beyond the Mind-Body connection of finding and maintaining wellness. Overall wellness AND "wholeness" is highly valued. All parts of a person's life (physical healing, mental health and wellness, emotional well-being, and spiritual beliefs and values) are considered. Taking a holistic approach involves seeking the tools that will help us attract our desires and find personal power.

A person who embraces the desire to find wholeness within his own being soon learns the importance of tending to relationships, caring for the planet and our environments, having compassion for humankind in general, and accepting and tolerating differences among a diverse population of people.

Role of the Holistic Healer:

The holistic healer recognizes that our discomforts or pains are merely symptoms of an imbalance. The imbalance could be a physical issue, the result of abusing the physical body through an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, or too little sleep. Or, the imbalance may be the result of mental, emotional, or spiritual needs not being met. No aspect (mind, body, spirit, or emotions) of a person is overlooked when an holistic treatment is sought.

The holistic healer looks at the "whole person" in order to make his or her complete evaluation and uses all information gathered before suggested treatments to the client are offered. Keep in mind, not all holistic healers are equal, each has his or her own specialty or expertise to offer. It will benefit you to shop around for a good fit. Choosing to go to a holistic healer is no different from choosing a medical professional. You decide.
